What Makes You Happy?

STOP EVERYTHING YOU ARE DOING RIGHT NOW.

Seriously.  Stop.  Focus on this exercise.

INSTRUCTIONS: Write down everything that makes you happy.

Ex. My spouse, my children or one of my children, or drinking wine, working, cooking, helping others, etc.

Write down EVERYTHING that makes you happy.

Next Step: write down a plan on how to increase your enjoyment from it.

Ex. I am going to go home every day at the end of work and give my spouse a big hug and kiss and tell them that I love them.

Ex. I am going to text my spouse 3x a week randomly during the day a hug emoji.

Ex. I am going to always put the cap back on the tube of toothpaste because I know how much it upsets them when I don’t.

Next Step: write down something you want to make you happy that currently is not.

Ex. I feel more distant from my parents than I want, and that makes me unhappy.

Next Step: write down your plan on how to correct that.

Ex. I am going to call my parents every Sunday and Wednesday.

Ex. I am going to send my parents flowers on my next birthday.

Take Inventory.

How many things did you write down that make you happy?

How many things did you write down that you want to make you happy but are not currently.

Put your plan into effect to increase your daily happiness.

At the end of each day review and update your “Happiness List”.

Take a few minutes to focus on what you did today to make yourself happier?

At the end of each month repeat this exercise from scratch.

Keep the prior month's list as a reference.

Each day is a gift.

Each day that brings you happiness is a true gift.

Let us focus on bringing more happiness into our lives daily.

The happier you are the better you are, and the better you are, allows you to make those around you happier and better.

Wishing that each day brings you happiness,

That each day is a bright and beautiful one to you,

That your light warms others,

David/

Return to Your Babyhood Remember the good old days when you were a baby? When you never gave up, regardless of how many times you failed. What happened to those good old days? When you were learning how to walk, you fell down each and every time. On average 17 times per hour. Hundreds if not thousands of times. And what did you do? You got back up. Each and every time. No questions asked. Never taking failure as your final answer. And then, you succeeded. You never doubted yourself. You never overthought things. You never got in your way. If you are now doing these things, preventing yourself from succeeding, getting in your own way, doubting yourself, overthinking things, stop. You can do it. You have done it before. When you had far less capabilities and knowledge and support. Wishes for another great day, each one a gift, David/

Failure or Revelation? You never fail at anything, and that is the truth. What you are doing is revealing to yourself an area of improvement. It is important to realize this, because if you are not failing at something, you are not challenging yourself adequately. And if you are not challenging yourself, how do you make yourself a better person tomorrow than you are today? So please, fail at something often. Be a better person each and every day, because, Each day is a gift, David/
