Fail at something on a regular basis. That should be a goal of yours like it continues to be of mine. It means challenge yourself to do something new, learn something you did not know about before, gain a new skill previously not located in your “toolbox”; to continuously create a new and better you.
Here are some of the challenges I undertook in the past:
- I spent one and a half years cooking in the kitchen of a local Italian restaurant after work on Mondays.
- I got certified to Scuba Dive – that was crazy because I am not a good swimmer.
- I read the Torah and wrote every week on its weekly portion. At the end of the year I had about 40 subscribers.
- After reading the Torah, I then read the next 19 volumes of books which took an additional four and half years.
- I did Krav Maga for over a decade from my 40’s to my 50’s.
- I went to race car school
- I read books about things I do not know anything, or enough, about – this provides me with huge fields of opportunities. Examples include the US Constitution, Biographies of all the Founding Fathers and some of the Federalist Papers, and the Peloponnesian War.
On and on. Some big, some small. Always challenging myself. Always putting myself in a place where I can fail to not accomplish.
You need to do this. You need to be a different person next year than you are this year. More informed, more capable, hungrier for knowledge. This allows you to help not only yourself move forward and create more value, but also help others. It increases the value others will place in you.
You can make each day brighter for you, and more importantly for others.
Wishes for a great day,
Hugs too,
