Idols, Anger, and Honor
I was going to label this post, “Don’t get Angry”.
So let me start: Don’t get angry.
Why you might ask?
Let me explain.
What are you getting angry about? The probability is something or someone you have no control over. And if you have no control over it, then getting angry will only make you angrier. A self fulfilling prophecy of ruining the gift that today, and maybe even tomorrow(s), bring you.
And if you take it one step deeper, getting angry at something or someone you have no control over, creates the narrative that you did have control over it or them. It makes you “G-d”. And it also makes you at the same time, worship yourself - creating an idol (you) in that process.
I wrote about worshiping false idols three years ago this month:

I failed to mention that “worshipping” yourself, is also worshiping a false idol.
Often honor is involved. Your “honor”. You feel that you were dishonored by someone.
If that happens, get over yourself - quickly. Honor is something that you earn, not something that you demand or expect of others. In fact, you are dishonoring yourself if you demand or expect others to honor you.
